Notes

The Beaux Stratagem marked the first time the company had employed a fight director for a production. Nick Hall was hired to choreograph the sword fights as the director Robin Herford had once lost a tooth in a badly choreographed fight scene at another venue.
The production also included a brief appearance by actor Sam Dale’s Border Collie, Willy, who was walked across stage by the actress Jenny Funnell each night to mark the passing of time at one point in the play.
Although this marked the company' first production of the play, it had been initially considered for the 1983/4 season alongside a production of Cyrano de Bergerac. However. a proposed Equity strike meant the proposed season had to be dropped.
